GENERAL GYNECOLOGY/PREVENTIVE HEALTH & WELLNESS:
As gynecologists, we treat a whole range of disorders of the female reproductive system. But one of our most important jobs is not just to treat disease, but to also focus on preventive health and wellness. We will keep you informed on what surveillance tests are recommended for preventive health during the different ages and stages of your life. We will also counsel you on appropriate exercise and nutritional recommendations, stress management, and risk factor reduction.
We offer a full line of nutraceuticals to help your body function better and can offer advice on what supplements have science behind them and which ones we are less sure about. General recommendations for all adult women are to take a good multivitamin and calcium 1000mg/day with Vitamen D 800 mg/day. A baby aspirin per day (unless there are other medical reasons where it is not recommended) has also been suggested to help prevent colon polyps and cancer. The one supplement highly recommended by the American Heart Association is a fish oil supplement to get your good ratios of Omega 3:6, although you must be careful about the source of the fish to make sure it is not contaminated with heavy metals.
